    Our soccer community came together to celebrate the lives of Ava and Faris, surrounded by so much love and support. ❤️⚽ The love and support shown by our players, coaches, families, and community was a beautiful reminder of what Georgia Storm is all about. As we continue our season, we’ll play with Ava and Faris in our hearts, honoring the joy they brought to the game and to everyone around them. We continue to lift the Derbecker family in our thoughts and prayers and hope they feel the love and support that surrounds them. Ava and Faris will always be a part of the Georgia Storm family.

    It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic passing of two beloved members of our Georgia Storm family, Ava and Faris Derbecker. There are no words that can express the sorrow we feel. Ava and Faris were more than athletes- they were teammates, friends, and bright lights within our club. Their kindness, joy, and love for the game touched everyone around them and will never be forgotten. Our hearts are broken for the Derbecker family as they navigate an unimaginable loss. During this difficult time, we ask our Georgia Storm family and community to wrap their arms around Michael, Victoria, Otis, and all who loved Ava and Faris. Let us support them with our prayers, love, and strength in the days and weeks ahead. As coaches, this loss is especially heartbreaking. Ava and Faris were not just players on our fields- they were children we had the privilege of watching grow up over the years. We are honored to have been a small part of their journeys and will always cherish the memories we shared with them. Their smiles, personalities, and passion for soccer left a lasting mark on our coaching staff and the entire Georgia Storm family. We also encourage those who are able to support the Ava and Faris Fund, established in their honor through the Community Foundation of West Georgia. This fund will celebrate their love for soccer by helping provide opportunities for children in our community to play, grow, build friendships, and experience the same sense of belonging that the game gave to Ava and Faris. Through this gift, their memory will continue to open doors for young athletes for years to come. Ava and Faris will forever be a part of the Georgia Storm family. The love they shared, the friendships they built, and the joy they brought to others will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who knew them. Tammy was mother to current staff members Josh, Stephen, and Jacob, and wife to Lee, a longtime coach and referee. She inspired her family’s passion for the game and believed refereeing built both character and community. We hope this program will continue her legacy for years to come.
