STORM ⚡️WINS⚡️a crucial match in Knoxville against 865 Alliance. This second consecutive win keeps our playoff push alive and now we return home on Saturday for a deciding game against Charlottetowne Hops in a massive battle for a top 4 spot. Tonight’s game got off to a fast back and forth start before seeing a goal in the 35th minute by Alex Guzman. Renan Diniz volleyed a through ball to put Alex 1v1 against the defender whom he dribbled down and slotted a right footed finish in the side netting. The first half and second half were marked with several top class saves from Robert Bailey. The first half goal would prove to be the deciding factor in our 1-0 victory. Let’s get excited about our massive home game on July 1st as we push for the playoffs! #npsl #georgiastorm

Storm WINS⚡️The Storm took on the conference leaders, Apotheos, on Saturday night in Carrollton. Storm took the lead early in the first half after drawing a free kick. Greg Stratton curled the free kick off the post and Mauro Gutierrez followed it up and put it away. Apotheos scored to equalize late in the first half to take the teams 1-1 into halftime. The second half started and Jay White won a ball and dribbled up to pass to Renan Diniz who then played a beautiful ball on the ground into the box to pick out Damean Dominguez who back heel flicked the ball to Kevin Pierre who put it in the net. Storm made some subs and brought on fresh legs including Alex Guzman who picked up a ball from Julio Neto at the top of the box to turn and find the back of the net. Apotheos scored in the 85th to make it 3-2 but it wasn’t enough and Storm held off to win 3-2. Our playoff push is ignited ⚡️#npsl #soccer #georgiastorm

Georgia Storm opened the 2023 NPSL season at home in front of a full house at the University of West Georgia. The Storm Chasers showed up in full force as we celebrated Storm Youth Night. Haris Osmanbasic opened the scoring after a corner from Spencer Van Buskirk rattled around in the box before dropping to Haris where he smashed a volley home. Haris and the team celebrated with all the supporters in fashion. Early in the second half App FC capitalized on a penalty kick to draw level. In the final minutes of the game, Storm had chances to put the game away but didn’t convert any opportunities. We take a point at home against the 2022 Conference Champions. He played the last 4 years at Auburn University Montgomery as a regular starter and was a member of the 2021 AUM team that reached the NCAA Elite 8 Round. Renan participated in our friendly last Sunday and impressed the staff. He has previous NPSL experience with Port City snd Erie Commodores. “Really excited for this season with the Storm. Akinni earned national recognition at the age of 17/18 in the UPSL as the UPSL Young Player of the Season in 2020 after scoring 24 goals which also earned him the UPSL National Golden Boot that season. Akinni earned UPSL Player of the Week two times during the 2020 season. ⛈KEVIN PIERRE⛈ joins the Storm as a midfielder from Georgia Southern University. Before transferring to Georgia Southern, Kevin played at Lander University where he won the Peach Belt regular season, won the Peach Belt Conference Tournament, and made it to the second round of the NCAA tournament. “I’m very excited to dive into this new environment to learn and gain more experience from new teammates as well as the coaching staff to help me grow as a player”

⛈MAURO GUTIERREZ⛈ joins the Storm as an attacking player who can play wing or attacking midfield. Mauro currently plays at Georgia Southern University. He grew up playing in the prestigious professional Costa Rican club, Deportivo Saprissa, from the age of 10-19. Mauro was also on the Costa Rican U20 National Team and was planned to participate in the FIFA U20 World Cup before it’s cancellation due to Covid. He has also played with C.F. ⛈SPENCER VAN BUSKIRK⛈ joins the Storm as a midfielder from Wofford College. Spencer was selected to the ECNL All-Conference Team before going to Wofford for 3 seasons. He also has NPSL experience with Apotheos FC. ⛈GREG STRATTON⛈ joins the Storm as a defender from Chattanooga FC in NISA. Greg played collegiately at Missouri State University where he earned Missouri Valley Conference Defender of the Week 4 times, MVC All Conference two times, won the MVC tournament, and was part of the backline that posted 10 shutouts in their 17-2 season. ⚡️JULIO NETO⚡️joins the Storm as a defender and midfielder from Ole FC. Julio graduated from Lincoln Memorial University where he was SAC All Conference. After college Julio won a UPSL National Championship with Atletico Atlanta in 2020. He also played USL 2 with East Atlanta, NPSL & Lamar Hunt Open Cup with Duluth FC, and pro indoor with MASL Harrisburg Heat. He played the 2022 NPSL season with Miami Dutch Lions where he was team captain and led the team in minutes played. Alek was voted NPSL Sunshine Conference Best XI and nominated for NPSL South Region Team. Ian played 4 seasons of U.S. Development Academy with GA United and Concorde Fire before going to the University of Kentucky where he won a Conference USA title. ⚡️MATTEO LANDAIS⚡️joins the Storm as a midfielder from Georgia Southwestern University. While at GSW, Matteo has earned Peach Belt Player of the Week twice and finished the 2022 college season with 6 goals and 5 assists for a total of 17 points to rank him 7th in Peach Belt Conference for points. ⚡️JUSTIN (JAY) WHITE ⚡️ joins the Storm as a winger/wingback from the Barbados National Team. Jay played for Coastal Carolina University and won a Big South Regular season Championship and Big South Tournament Championship. He also reached the Sweet Sixteen in the NCAA Tournament. Previous to joining Storm he was with UWI Blackbirds of Bajan Premier League and the Barbados Men’s National team. ⚡️NICOLÁS SALAZAR BONILLA⚡️joins the Storm as a defender from Georgia FC. Nico was a key part to the 2020 undefeated UPSL national champion, Ginga ATL (Atletico Atlanta). He is a UPSL State (2x), Region, and National Champion. ⚡️ANDREW ELKINS⚡️ joins the Storm as a defender from Tri Cities Otters and Auburn University Montgomery. Andy is the former captain of AUM’s soccer team and started 41/43 games (3,968 minutes) during his time. While at AUM he earned 1st Team Academic All-American, 2nd Team All-South Region, Gulf South Conference Top Ten Honors, GSC All-Conference, and led the 2021 team to an NCAA Elite 8 appearance. Andy also has experience with Port City FC in NPSL and most recently Tri Cities Otters in USL2. “I’m thankful for the opportunity to join Storm for the summer. It was a cold rainy night as we hosted our second tryout of the 2023 NPSL campaign and invited 30 college and local players to attend. We are pleased with the turnout and are preparing to move forward with a number of players. The roster is taking shape and we are very excited for the summer to get here for the 2023 NPSL season. We hosted our second phase of tryouts with local talent and players traveling from out of state to participate in a training session and tryout.
